Two Arrests Following London Heathrow Irritant Spray Attack

Placeholder Heathrow Airport scene
This incident resulted in the temporary closure of the Central Terminal Area tunnel and the T3 car park.

An additional two individuals are now in custody in connection with a theft at London's Heathrow Airport where 21 people were injured by a substance believed to be pepper spray, as stated by law enforcement.

A 24-year-old man, was arrested in the Lambeth area on suspicion of theft and assault and a 23-year-old woman was arrested for suspected conspiracy to commit robbery. They both are still being held, the force said.

The arrests come after a probe into an assault at the multi-level parking garage at Heathrow's Terminal 3 on Sunday. Prior to the incident, two women had stolen from them their luggage after getting out of a car park lift.

A three-year-old girl was one of the injured in the event. Five people were taken to the hospital for medical care and were later discharged.

Officers arrested a 31-year-old man on suspicion of robbery and assault close to the scene. He has since been released under investigation while inquiries continue.

Authorities were alerted at approximately 08:10 GMT after reports came in regarding several people hurt by a noxious substance believed to be pepper spray.

The assault - which police said was isolated and not considered an act of terror - caused delays to rail services and the partial closure of the main airport tunnel and the T3 car park for a short time.
